Inspired by the tradition of personal works such as Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, Mati was written as a lullaby for my firstborn son, Mateo. Composed in the months surrounding his arrival, the piece reflects tenderness, innocence, and the quiet wonder that enters a home with a new child. With its broad lyrical writing and layered textures, Mati offers advanced student orchestras the opportunity to perform music of warmth, depth, and sincere feeling.
